Choosing a programme

Public speaking or spoken English: where should you start?

Language fluency and confident expression are connected, but families may be looking for different kinds of practice.

Start with the situation you notice

Is your child looking for the words to express an idea, or comfortable with the language but hesitant to join a conversation? A specific example is more useful than a broad label such as 'not confident'. Share the setting and what your child would like to try.

Language practice and expression

Spoken-English learning often concentrates on vocabulary, sentence construction and conversation in English. Speaking practice can also involve organising an idea, listening, taking turns, responding to others and speaking to a group. Ask a provider which activities its programme includes.

Where YSGI fits

The Making of a CEO combines Social Literacy, Emotional Intelligence, and Leadership & Life Skills. Sessions are offered in English and Hindi. It is an experiential life-skills programme; speak with the team about language fit rather than assuming it is English tuition.

Use the first session to explore fit

Observe the activities, the facilitator's approach and your child's experience. Ask about group size, participation, programme duration and parent communication. The free YSGI demo gives your family an opportunity to experience the approach before discussing enrolment.

Explore the experience for yourself.

Find programme facts, ask your questions and start with an introductory conversation or session.
